Imagination

My favorite part of Jumpstart is being able to promote books and learning as something that can be fun and entertaining.  Many young children are anxious to use all of the electronic resources that are available to them, but it is important that people stress the significance of books and how much fun reading can actually be.  Jumpstart provides children with an environment in which corps members are excited to read, and they also make reading fun.  This type of environment encourages children to read which I think is very powerful.  The impact that this can have on children and their future success in the classroom is significant.  Reading books has the ability to increase knowledge and open up people’s minds to different perspectives.  Children need to be exposed to the benefits of books because this will have a very positive impact on them.
Another one of my favorite parts of Jumpstart is watching children as they use their imagination and creativity.  During dramatic play, children are given the opportunity to use their imagination while they are playing house or pretending to be a police officer or fire fighter.  Imagination is very important for children because it provides children with the opportunity to pretend and think about what they would like to become in the future.  Also, creativity can be used in stations like writing or painting.  Creativity is important because it allows children to think outside the box.  All of these different components of Jumpstart make learning fun for children, and provide them with a framework to be more successful in the classroom.  This is why I truly enjoy doing Jumpstart every week.
